What/Where

What happens when you donate a car? Where does it go?

Most car donation programs (Kars4Kids, The Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc) take donated cars to auction.

In fact, this is a copy/paste from the Kars4Kids website:

Most cars that are donated to Kars4Kids are sold in order to generate funds for the charity.

Now there’s nothing wrong with this… The money from the sale does go to their charity, though I doubt most folk could even tell you what their charity is.

What we do know is that a car being sold at auction does nothing to solve for a transportation need within our own community.

In Kars4Kids instance, their charity programs are in New Jersey.

Momentum Garage aims to solve for this.

Our cars, our roads, our community. Pass your keys to a neighbor in need.

We will take your donated car and do our very best to get it into the hands of someone in our community who has a need.

There may be some instances where we need to sell a luxury vehicle or scrap a donated vehicle that is beyond economic repair. This will be the exception, not the rule.

The old car taking up space in your driveway or garage? Let’s see if we can get it refreshed and into the hands of a neighbor who needs a ride!
